What is the Feldenkrais Method?®

The
Feldenkrais Method is named after its originator, Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais, D.Sc. (1904-1984), a physicist, judo expert, mechanical engineer and educator. The method is based on principles of physics, biomechanics, and an empirical understanding of learning and human development. The Feldenkrais Method uses gentle movement and directed attention to enhance human functioning.

Through the Feldenkrais Method you can increase your ease and range of motion, improve your flexibility and coordination, and rediscover your innate capacity for graceful, efficient, and comfortable movement. Movement sequences ("Lessons") bring attention to the parts of the self that are out of awareness and held in habitual neuromuscular patterns and rigidities, and support you in learning new ways of moving. These improvements often enhance functioning in other aspects of your life.

What is the Anat Baniel Method?

Anat Baniel worked many years as a teacher and trainer with Dr. Feldenkrais after finishing her own training with him in 1975. She founded the Anat Baniel Method, which extends the Feldenkrais Method to include new scientific understanding of how the brain learns through movement and

awareness of the self. The Anat Baniel Method
applies these principles not only to the body and movement, but also to emotional and intellectual development.

The Anat Baniel Method evolves the Feldenkrais Method in several key directions: Anti-Aging and Vitality; Pain Relief; Children with Special Needs; and High Performers. It also refines the practice and teaching of the work through Transformational Movement Lessons and Functional Synthesis. The Anat Baniel Method can also enhance the underlying movements required for such activities as golf, tennis, walking, running, dancing, and more.
